The Masaka Campus Story

From a coordinating center to a full-fledged campus

2005

The Beginning

The Masaka branch started in 2005 at the request of the Late Bishop John Baptist Kaggwa. It began as a coordinating center for UMU distance learning to provide qualitative education to the people of Masaka and surrounding regions.

2007

First Academic Programs

In 2007, the center started offering its first programs: a Diploma in Computer Science and a Bachelor in Business Administration. This marked the beginning of direct academic offerings at the center.

2008

Official Launch

In 2008, the center was officially launched, solidifying its presence in the region and expanding its capacity to serve more students seeking quality higher education.

2018

Elevation to Campus Status

In 2018, the center was elevated to the status of a full campus. This significant milestone recognized the growth and importance of the Masaka branch within the Uganda Martyrs University system. Since then, it has developed progressively, expanding its programs, facilities, and student population.
